Dormition of the Theotokos
August 15 NS / 28 OS marks the last great feast of the church year—The Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Theotokos. We have spent the last two weeks fasting in preparation for this wonderful celebration of the Mother of Our Lord, when she reposed in the Lord surrounded by most of the Apostles, who had been miraculously brought to her from all around the world.
