Nativity of the Theotokos

We begin our yearly festal celebrations by honoring the birth of the Mother of God on September 8 NS/21 OS. Interestingly, the Church Year begins with her birth, and ends with her Dormition. She is the means by which Christ is brought into the world; how wonderful to anchor our year with the fullness of her earthly life!
